Down with Don

Old Don is in the news again, quoted in the Indy Star. It is an impractical dream, but I wish the local media would realize this guy knows little about the shooting community as once a member of that community has been screwed to the wall by Don, they find out the truth pretty quickly and seldom return. Whether this holds true for the inner city shooters, I cannot say. But then these are less often the shooters that are welcome at my range which has an unwritten rule against the ownership and use of any firearm with gold platting and a well known rule against ignorance on the firing line. And purchasing anything from one of Don’s remaining locations is more than enough to prove ignorance.

As to other facets of the shooting community in Indiana that Don cannot speak for are those that he has helped screw through legislative means. And those he continues to attempt to screw. Don is the only gun shop owner I have ever heard of that actually supported the so-called “Assault Weapons” ban, 10 round mag capacity ban, the Brady waiting periords, banning of gun shows around the state. Don also supported the change in rules for obtaining a Federal Firearms License (FFL) which led to the demise of a lare number of small specialty gunsmiths all over the country as well as FFL holders that did things like organize group buys at area gun and conservation clubs. With the markup Don charges it is no wonder he wanted to get these people out of business.

Yet this is who Indiana media turns to for sound bites and quotes on the shooting community….
