The State Fair management has totally lost their mind. Their new “security” policies include not allowing lawfully licensed individuals to carry their concealed pistols on fair grounds during the fair. Instead, their idiotic instructions are for everyone to lock their lawfully carried pistol in their glovebox in the parking lots of the fair!

So now under the guise of security the largest security force in this state has just been told, we do not need you, we take full responsibility for your safety.

In disgust my poison pen has sent this to the board:

State Fair Board,

You guys have really lost your mind with this:

“No person in possession of a deadly weapon shall be permitted onto or be permitted to remain on the Fairgrounds; any person properly licensed to carry a firearm must secure the firearm in a locked compartment of his/her vehicle and it shall not be visible to a passerby.”

First, announce to the whole state that no visitor to the fair will be armed nor able to defend themselves.

Second, post on your website that there are going to be a bunch of cars in the parking lots with guns in the gloveboxes.

Third, with approximately 250,000 lawfully licensed Hoosiers carrying concealed pistols you’ve just knocked out most all of your real security force at the State Fair while telling the bad guys we’re all fair game.

Remember that the criminal element will not abide by your radio announcements nor the statements on your website. But law abiding Hoosiers will, and the law abiding Hoosiers are exactly who you are putting at risk with this “security” policy. Are you prepared to assume full responsibility for every individual on the fair ground property? Because you just have.

Neither myself nor my extended family; nor any other Hoosier, nor holder of concealed carry permits that I can influence, will attend the Indiana State Fair.

And I’m letting everyone that will listen know it.
