How Much Would Jesus Tax?
Alabama’s Republican governor may tout his tax plan as the Christian thing to do, and if taxes were low in Alabama and the extra revenue went straight to the indegent I might even reluctantly agree with a modest increase for that purpose. But at todays combined tax levels most Americans are barely taking care of themselves.
What Gov. Riley is conveniently overlooking is that if the extra tax burden kicks more Alabama residents into the indegent category he’s created a bigger problem, not a solution.
This demonstrates the motives of the so-called “Christian Coalition” who is also backing the tax increases in Alabama in support of the governor. It’s about the power base. Any supposedly “Christian” organization that supports compulsory (i.e. at the point of a gun) “charity” needs re-examine their allegiances.
Almost forgot the linkage.
