Seatbelt in your SUV

The seatbelt laws in Indiana are very specific about what vehicles require the front seat passengers to wear their belts. Trucks are exempt from the law and the ticket. But the police have been enforcing the law on SUV drivers whether they had truck plates or not which is in and of itself a voilation of the very law the police were supposedly enforcing.

What did it take to get it fixed? A pissed off Hoosier that took a seatbelt ticket all the way to the appeals court.

Are the lower judges so ignorant of the law that they make up their own definition of “truck” instead of going by the bureau of motor vehicles definition?

Or are they so greedy and powerful enough that they enforce the law how they see fit…
