Computer Nostalgia
Sunday, November 30th, 2003My second computer ever was a Commodore C64, that would have been somewhere around 1983-4. 20 years later the rather common PDA has more power than the C64 and can even run C64 software.

Seldom do I find much out of San Francisco worthy of attention, but SFGate.com has an excellent article on how technology is dumbing down the classroom. The articles prima facia purpose is to ask why we slash teachers and teacher salaries in budget crunchs, yet continue to expand technology spending. But past […]
Glen Reynolds has an excellent piece running over at Fox News on the assault on America, Guns, Masculinity. One ascertation that I found interesing (if not surprising):
though it is little publicized, much of the gun-control movement’s financial and institutional support comes from non-evangelical Protestant denominations
Another Ashcroft screwup? Hardly. While I have some issues with Ashcroft he is largely for law and order and enforces the law. This is the current law and legislation is underway to make sure it stays that way.
The subverting of Democracy by Federal judges is known to all, though some ignore, try to hide […]
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn’t want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
–Marcus Tullius Cicero, 55 B.C.
“To those who cite the First Amendment as reason for excluding God from more and more of our institutions everyday; I say: The First Amendment of the Constitution was not written to protect the people of this country from religious values; it was written to protect religious values from government tyranny.”
–Ronald Reagan
A Silicon Valley programmer is out on bail, charged with spam enduced road rage. It appears that he:
threatened to send a “package full of Anthrax spores” to the company, to “disable” an employee with a bullet and torture him with a power drill and ice pick; and to hunt down and castrate the employees […]
“The U.S. military has had considerably more success in turning Iraq around than liberals have had in turning the ghettos around with their 40-year ‘War on Poverty.’ So far, fewer troops have been killed by hostile fire since the end of major combat in Iraq than civilians were murdered in Washington, DC, last year. How […]
When we, as a Nation, allowed Bill Clinton to get away with sex on the job and lying about it a message was sent out that this behavior is now OK. Sheriff Anderson is right, fire them while the public is only calling for the officers heads.
The Indianapolis FBI office is on the job in the CANDLES Museum arson case. The Indianapolis Star has a few paragraphs on the FBI’s involvement plus an editorial of their own. Information on contributing to the Museum can be found here.
Well, they almost got it right, that whacky 9th. Their decision to overtun a conviction for possession of a machine gun is based on the fact that the defendant was a convicted felon previous to being charged for building the unregisterd machine gun.
The machine gun was built entirely from scratch removed the […]
Als die Nazis die Kommunisten holten,
habe ich geschwiegen;
ich war ja kein Kommunist.
Als sie die Sozialdemokraten einsperrten,
habe ich geschwiegen;
ich war ja kein Sozialdemokrat.
Als sie die Gewerkschafter holten,
habe ich geschwiegen;
ich war ja kein Gewerkschafter.
Als sie mich holten,
gab es keinen mehr, der protestieren konnte.

The Liberals are in a tizzy over the prescription drug benefit being pushed by the White House. Features of the legislation which they most detest include: co-pay provisions that require the benefit recipient to share the costs; benefits are also capped and recipients must fall within specific income guidelines to be eligible for […]
Reason has an excellent article on why the President is not a conservative. I agree with most of the articles assessment of President Bush as a big spending moderate with a few core conservative threads that keep those of us to the right of Atilla-the-Hun somewhat appeased.
“Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of Hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak, if we make a proper use of those means which the […]
The Candles Holocaust Museum in Terre Haute was intentionally burned down overnight. Yet there isn’t a word on the radio or any of my usual news haunts including the Indy Star though 2 Terre Haute television stations covered it (links at the linked Museum webpage).
He did get some things right especially his concepts of the self cleansing gene pool.

Those harping on not yet locating bin Laden and Saddam should realize it took 6000 years to locate a type of 30ft long whale.
Though many of my friends prefer it I’ve never cared for CLP as a lubricant.
If you’re still confused on what the “assault weapons ban” is about; you think the AWB is good, about machine guns and criminal behavior, you need to read the truth.
If the Liberals and ACLU treated the 2nd Amendment even half as liberally as they view the 1st Amendment every man, woman and child […]
Howard Dean is making the case for re-regulation of business by casting Enron’s wrong doing as a common disease among American businesses. The answer, according to Dean, is (re)regulating businesses that are publically traded as a “new social contract for the 21st century” …. “In order to make capitalism work […]

There is Secret intelligence memo which links Saddam to bin Laden going back to the early 1990’s.
I think we found where Saddams WMDs went. Note this is the UN saying this, not President Bush…

The second G1 Stock from the last kit purchase is complete! The process with this one is very similiar to the last. The stock was chemically stripped and then soaked out and allowed to dry. The cracks were sealed and filled with multiple layers of super glue. The color this time […]
