Welcome to 2004

It is now the 13th and finally I have a couple of moments to jot something out here. Two of the biggest events in my day today will tell everyone what type of work has been keeping me tied up.

First is Mandrake 9.2. Finally, the necessary libraries are either part of the distribution or in the Contribs to give PHP support for accessing a Microsoft SQL server. For the past 3 years I’ve had to continually recompile manually to maintain MSSQL support. No more! And.. the support works in the CLI as well. But if MSSQL had any worth while date manipulation capabilities the CLI support would be less critical.

Second, something that the PHP manual says doesn’t work. And that is handling of multiple result sets returned from query execution. The notes specifically state it doesn’t work with the FreeTDS libraries. But it DOES! YES! Now the question is does either ADOdb or PEAR_DB support it? Probably not, that would be too easy!

I know.. it’s the small things in life.

Happy 2004!
