Airport security finds congressman’s gun
It is unfortunate that Rep Hostettler really put his foot in it..
I’m impressed that Rep. John Hostettler has his permit and actually carries a firearm when in the state. And remember that if the Rep had remembered to dump his ammo it is perfectly legal for him to put the pistol in his checked bagage. Pre 9-11 he would have been allowed to check the pistol in that way once it was established he had a valid permit.
Leave it to a liberal to totally make then miss the point.
“I mean why is a congressman packing a weapon on an airplane, especially in this day and age?” Terry Burns, communications director for the Indiana Democratic Party
Post 9-11 is exactly when every willing and able (and legal) American should be prepared, armed and observant! Especially at airports and on airplanes! Even more so considering the TSA is sitting on their bumbs and ignoring legislation expressly passed by the Congress and the Senate and signed by the President to arm airline pilots! Despite all the rethoric, screening, checkpoints and procedures Airplanes are still defenseless against the type of attack that occurred on 9/11/01 and Norman Menetta has admitted this on television! And the abuse that Americans are enduring under the TSA is astounding. If this is security I’d rather take my chances!
Anyway ack to the (MY) Congressman. Of 50 states 37 currently issue pistol permits and the majority of those honor the other states permits as well. Many of these states have added their permit issuance laws in the last 10-15 years because the people demanded it. Anyone who thinks the people didn’t just take a look at the battles going on today in Kansas, Wisconsin and Missouri right this moment.
And those of us in a state with permits and who carry a firearm daily understand how a pistol under a car seat or nestled into its concealment holster can be temporarily forgotten about. It becomes like putting a ballpoint in your breast pocket or a cell phone on your belt.
If this had been Rosie O’Donnel’s security guard it would have never made the paper. It is my sincere hope that this can be turned into something positive for Rep. Hostettler.
