Joe Wilson’s Uranium

Clifford D. May nicely flays Joe Wilson over at National Review Online. Joe Wilson is the guy that said Iraq was not attempting to buy unrefined “yellow cake” uranium from Niger after being tasked by the CIA to investigate. (Apparently he only investigated Niger mint tea.) But recent events (Google Search – nteresting lack of US coverage!) shows that Iraq had acquired uranium from a country or government that does not report with the nuclear regulatory agencies. And we know from a 1992 report Iraq was acquiring or had acquired components necessary to enrich uranium. If there is any doubt whether they still had the required technology not only has the head of their enrichment program told us about it but after the US entered Iraq in 2003 parts were turning up in strange places.
