Missing coverage on Foreign Aid package
The foreign aid package is in front of the House and all that’s being reported is the measly $25,000 being withheld from Saudia Arabia. Since the Democrats don’t believe in the War on Terrorism their only remaining objective to blocking this paltry $25k is to spite President Bush who requested it remain in. $25k in the grand scheme of things frankly isn’t worth creating tension between the United States and Saudi government and the potential of raising oil prices. It was Saudi Arabia who, when oil prices sky rocked earlier this year due to speculative trading, increased their production without sanction from OPEC and they lead the battle with OPEC to get the other member nations to increase their production ceilings.
Now I’m not a friend of Saudi Arabia as the home of Wahabi Islam, the most dangerous and militant branch of Islalm in the world.
But I digress. My point is that the media is covering this “victory” and not last nights vote on another amendment to this same foreign aid bill.
Rep. Buyer (R-Indiana) introduced an amendment that would deny the use of Federal funds for the request
to the United Nations to monitor our soverign elections in November. In his magnamity Kofi Annan has declined the invitation. But 161 members of the House of Representitives voted against this anti-funding amendment. That is, in essence, 161 members of congress who think that the United Nations observers should be involved in our elections and/or the tax payers of the United States should foot the bill.
I don’t know when the last time these 161 members read their oath of office but I would recommend each and every one reread what they swore to on taking office.
