Forces Pound Iraqi Militia Posts
First I find the phrase “Iraqi Militia” disingeneous when it is known Iran is sponsoring Sadr’s band of Shite thugs. But be that as it may Sadr rejected the Iraqi Government offer and is now reaping the benefits that come with that decision.
In WW2 our troops rolled into town and if they were not fired upon we’d move right on through and leave the people alone. If they were fired upon the town was leveled. Were this policy to have been implemented a year ago Iraq would be a whole different place today.
I can see the simpering idiot emails before even posting this: “Oh, but then they’ll REALLY hate us!!”. Tough cookies for a number of reasons.
The world has always hated the United States. Even after the United States put it’s full industrial might into WW2 to pull everyone in Europe’s arse out of the fire. Or maybe I should say ESPECIALLY after.
Since the rebirth of the League of Nations, that’s the United Nations for those who went to government schools, the United Nations has gone against the United States in 85%-plus of the votes
No one can tell me today that the world at large hates the United States much more than they did just a few years ago. Though I’m sure there were a few percentage points upswing when President Bush and the United States lay naked the cowardice of the EU as there is no faster way to become hated than showing someone their own weakness… and so publically.
Now after we’re in Iraq we find out that maybe it was a different type of cowardice that motivated the opposition nations; specifically Russia, Germany and France. The fear of being found out. Found trading with Iraq against the sanctions and on the take in the oil-for-food program.
It is so much easier to do what is right and just when you don’t have to win a popularity contest at the same time. Since the United States will never win such a contest we must do what is right. Damn the torpedos…
