So it Begins
With only 20 days the assault on our semi-automatic firearms is now in full swing. One only has to look at the the editorial onslaught taking place around the country to see it. To say they’re desparate is an understatement as there are less than 4 legislative session days remaining.
Those who support this nonsensical law are pulling out all the stops including encouraging multiple distortions that help their cause such as that the law is about machine guns rather than semi-automatic rifles.
When I have otherwise intelligent people telling me the things should be banned they’re quite taken aback to find out the truth. Those pushing the reneal of this legislation know and count on your confusion and even admit it!
“The weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semiautomatic assault weapons - anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun - can only increase that chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.” - Josh Sugarmann, Violence Policy Center - 1988
These rifles have been around; over 50 years in many cases and some even longer. Why did these rifles become a problem in just the last 10 years? If you don’t know the answer to that, and know that the rifles have nothing to do with it then you have my compassion.
If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. – Samuel Adams
