I Hate Car Shopping
It’s only taken a week of shopping but we finally found a replacement car for my wife.
After the good luck we’d had with her Intrepid we started out looking specifically for another. But after doing some digging on the newer model Intrepids it seems there are some major issues with their smaller 2.7 liter V6 that are coming to a head in a pending class action lawsuit.
So… back to shopping for something other than an Intrepid. In the size class of the Intrepid there are not many competitors compared to the mid-sized class. Among the competitors the Pontiac Grand Prix has the highest customer satisfaction, service rating and “will buy another” scores.
The whole affair was rather entertaining though. An informed consumer isn’t exactly a car salesman’s best friend. Depending on how scrupulous the particular dealership is, of course.
After shopping a dozen lots National Car Sales had what we wanted at a price easily $3k less than other lots in the area. And they had 3 to choose from, 1 GT and 2 identically equiped ES’s. We opted for the GT mainly due to it’s larger engine and that “GT” marking which will enhance the resale value when we do finally get rid of it.
