Kyoto & Russian - Let the spin begins
CEI warned early this morning that the media would pick up the Russia/Kyoto news and spin it that Russia is onboard. What has happened is that Moscow sent the treaty to the Duma, to their congress for a vote. This is largely done so that when Russia sinks Kyoto they can point to the Duma and claim “will of the people” or some such. Because the last thing Russia or the Russian economy wants is higher energy prices which is exactly what Kyoto is. It’s not a “climate” treaty its an energy price hike treaty and heavily backed by the Enrons of the world and nations with high energy prices who cannot compete.
