Poll Observations
I was quite pleased this morning when I went to vote. First because I went to the right place unlike last spring, the first time to the polls after they moved the polling place. But more importantly this morning, I and everyone I saw in front of me in line were asked to show their identification. I was also asked a security question and my answer compared with their records! Needless to say I’m quite pleased to see at least some counties taking things seriously.
There were more “observers” and “challengers” than voters present. There were maybe 6 people waiting to vote or voting, and 7 or 8 observers. The scrutiny I received while waiting was humorous, especially one particular woman who, if I had to guess by her manner, had to have a hyphenated last name. The looks I and a fellow voter received from a couple of the observers while we discussed the mess in Ohio (my fellow voter didn’t realize that everyone didn’t have to show their identification) were quite priceless, as well.
