Spike and Fluffy off the Menu in Hawaii?
First and foremost I find it quite distasteful that anyone would eat Spike or Fluffy to begin with. But then I really dislike squirrel, too. But that doesn’t mean that such a proposal doesn’t have serious ramifications to everyone no matter your dining preferences.
As sick as my western mind thinks this cultural difference is… considering the number of animals euthenized by the Humane Society what’s the difference if the carcas ends up on someones table rather than a furnace or hole in the ground?
Ultimately though the animal rights activists rightly believe if they can take this unpopular if stereotypical entre and get it banned it’s one more step in their agenda. Eventually they’ll be plying on your emotions for the poor helpless cow.
And I like my cow, preferably medium-rare, thank you very much.
