Exit Strategy?
Interesting, the news would have us believe we’re loosing in Iraq but if that were the case why would the insurgents be looking for an exit strategy?
The saying goes that true Democracy (a word frankly misunderstood and incorrectly used by most) is two wolves and a sheep deciding what is for dinner. I’ll be interested to see who in Iraq are the wolves and who is the sheep. Yet despite being the minority, and the most likely to take the sheep’s role, the Sunni’s just may be ready to take their place in the political ecosystem.
The other noteworthy point in this is that if the media is now reporting this it must be getting beyond their ability to hide the fact that, though top Democrats still insist we need our own sooner-rather-than-later exit strategy, we are winning Iraq and not just winning against the “insurgents” but the idea of Democracy is winning with the Sunni’s.
Granted if they end up with an Islamic Theocracy it’ll have been one of the shortest periods of Democracy in the history of the world. Yet if we are to live up to our purpose there we must leave that to the Iraqi’s.
