Exit Strategy?

Sunday, March 27th, 2005

Interesting, the news would have us believe we’re loosing in Iraq but if that were the case why would the insurgents be looking for an exit strategy?
The saying goes that true Democracy (a word frankly misunderstood and incorrectly used by most) is two wolves and a sheep deciding what is for dinner. I’ll […]

French Terror Alert

Saturday, March 26th, 2005

AP and UPI report that the French government announced today that is has raised its Terror Alert Level from “RUN” to “HIDE”.
The only two higher levels in France are “SURRENDER” and “COLLABORATE”.
The heightened alert status was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France’s white flag factory, effectively disabling their military.

60 Minutes: Terrorists and Guns

Friday, March 25th, 2005

John Lott covers the 60 Minutes, Terrorists and Guns segment over at Tech Central Station.
Fighting terrorism is a noble cause, but the laws we pass must have some real link to solving the problem. As Dan Rather would say: “Courage.”

Heavy Seas

Found a great gallery of ships in Heavy Seas. Interestingly many of the images are taken from oil tankers.

The logical scary solution

Friday, March 25th, 2005

One has to wonder what type of national climate would lead someone to think something like this is a desireable tool. Unfortunately we know the answer. Beware misquito bites.

The Answer is More Guns!

Friday, March 25th, 2005

Glad to know there are other sane people somewhere n the world. One such other person is Don Boys who makes the sane case of more guns rather then fewer. But he goes so much further than the superficial symptoms of the real problem in America:
Liberals booted God from the schools: no prayer, no […]

Terri Looses, Lobster Wins

Thursday, March 24th, 2005

Talk about a screwed up moral compass… Idiot. These big lobsters never survive once captured so he just threw $150 down the toilet. It would have done more good given to a shelter or mission.

Mexico

Thursday, March 24th, 2005

President Bush needs to quit kissing Fox’s backside and support our own people and our own laws.
Maybe I expect too much from a “man” that doesn’t even have the kahunas to stop a murder. So why should he stand up to that corrupt dictator?
My only consolation is that Kerry would have already declared everyone […]

Socialism == Failure

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

“Given that the two centuries of socialists’ experiments, whether by utopians, Marxists, or Fabians, always ended in economic failure and a loss of personal liberty, why are people around the globe still proudly proclaiming themselves socialists?” –Richard Rahn

International Law

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

“It is a big mistake for us to grant any validity to international law even when it may seem in our short-term interest to do so — because, over the long term, the goal of those who think that international law really means anything are those who want to constrict the United States.” –John Bolton

Antecedents of Freedom

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

“Freedom is not a luxury that we can indulge in when at last we have security and prosperity and enlightenment; it is, rather, antecedent to all of these, for without it we can have neither security nor prosperity nor enlightenment.” –Henry Steele Commager

Biblical Principle

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

“If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we and our posterity neglect its instruction and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity.” –Daniel Webster

One Morality

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

“There are those who believe that a new modernity demands a new morality. What they fail to consider is the harsh reality that there is no such thing as a new morality. There is only one morality. All else is immorality.” –Theodore Roosevelt

Great Causes

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

“When great causes are on the move in the world we learn we are spirits, not animals, and that something is going on in space and time, and beyond space and time, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty.” –Winston Churchill

Employment

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

It occurs to me that if you’re a contract employee for a company and want to get on their full time staff you would work extra hard to differenciate yourself from the rest. But that takes hard work, besides, it’s easier just to sue. I don’t remember ever accepting contract position where I didn’t […]

And So It Begins

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

Gun Control Group Seizes on Shooting. Maybe if the law wasn’t written such that every nut out there knows that schools are gun-free zones…. passing that law really helped so obviously banning law abiding citizens from owning guns will also fix the problem.
Get real people. This is like blaming post nasal drip […]

Lautenberg Introduces Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act

Monday, March 21st, 2005

Not surprising from Lautenberg.. Lautenberg Introduces Assault Weapons Ban. The “and strengthen” bears further scrutiny as well.

2 Years Later

Monday, March 21st, 2005

Democracy in Iraq on Democracy in Iraq 2 years later.
To may outsiders, like those who protested last year, who will protest today. This was a fools errand, it brought nothing but death and destruction. I am sheltered in Iraq, but I know how the world feels, how people have come to either love or hate […]

Political Discrimination

Monday, March 21st, 2005

If you’re Republican you can’t work for PlayGirl. And if you already work for PlayGirl your position will be eliminated. Seems one such editor-in-chief realized that Republican passions reach past the, er… political world, and dared to let it be known..

Society Spendthrifts

Monday, March 21st, 2005

“It is the highest impertinence and presumption, therefore, in kings and ministers, to pretend to watch over the economy of private people, and to restrain their expense, either by sumptuary laws, or by prohibiting the importation of foreign luxuries. They are themselves always, and without any exception, the greatest spendthrifts in the society. Let them […]

Scooter Blown Up

Sunday, March 20th, 2005

My goodness, and I America had turned into a bunch of scared old women. Looks like it’s even worse in England where they blow up scooters that could be bombs. The owner was inside getting her vehicle registration.

House GOP Fails to OK Schiavo Legislation

Sunday, March 20th, 2005

Good old media bias… the headline would be more accurately put Democrats block move to save woman’s life. I’m not sure that I agree with Noonan on this one. It will be bad for the Democrats if Terri Schiavo dies since they are now on record as blocking any intervention.
The Democrats are fond of […]
