Director Brown
One very salient point that former FEMA Director Brown made was that FEMA is not a law enforcement agency. They do not deploy to insecure areas as they have no armed officers nor law enforcement powers. Now ask yourself why FEMA may have delayed and been subseqently roasted for not going into areas where they were needed. Could it be because the media was on an “it’s violent anarchy in New Orleans!” reporting frenzy? Probably not but it sure shows that there is more here than meets the eye. Brown’s axing frankly infuriates me because by all appearances he did things by the book. Only thing is the Media and the LA Dems figured out that doesn’t matter when there is an agenda at stake. What’s worse is to see these sucker Republicans in Washington bending over backward and writing checks.
Funny how Republicans reject “Appeasement” everywhere but at home where it is the only way to political suicide faster than than voting against a handout. My hat is off the Rep John Hostettler (R-IN) who actually voted against the $62 Billion Katrina funding bill. Stangely he wanted to know who we were going to rob to get the money.
So what’s the matter with me, no sympathy for those in dire need? As a matter of fact I was quite sympathetic and ready to write a check. That is right up to when I saw one angry New Orleans resident after another on the television news accusing me of being responsible for their plight. For not doing something to save them from or prevent this calamity which had befallen them. Funny how that check never did get written after that.
It is unfortunate, though, because I had originally hoped such reports and such angry outbursts were rare exceptions which for the most part they were. But the media just couldn’t get enough of playing them. They couldn’t resist point fingers at the Administration. I’m curious how much money the media has cost relief organizations trying to help the same people the media (and politicians) supposedly care so much about?
