SAS make Three Simultaneously Head Shots
It looks like the British are putting the .338’s to good use in Iraq.
Each team was equipped with L115A .338 sniper rifles, capable of killing at up to 1,000 yards.
Actually the .338 will do better than that. We often hear about the effectiveness of the .50 BMG and there are numerous videos around the Internet if you’re not squeemish about such things. But though the .50 BMG may carry the star power the .338 does not the .338 Laupa can most definately hold its own and many contend it is a better performer on the 1000 yard target course. Apparently its terminal effects aren’t too shabby either.
As they gingerly approached it became brutally apparent that the .338 calibre round - the biggest rifle bullet used by the Army - had done its job.
The range here, while important, is less what makes this such an accomplishment as the timing and focus required for 3 men under stress. There is much more in such circumstances than one man yelling “FIRE” into the ear piece - precision riflecraft simply doesn’t work that way.
