Four and One-Half Hours
That’s how long it took me to drive my regular 68 miles home from the office at an average speed of under 20mph and lots of sitting still. One hour from Fishers to Carmel. One hour from Carmel to West 71st street Starbucks. Then 30 minutes trying to get back onto I-465 from Starbucks. And another 2 hours from there to home. I’ve driven basically the same course for over 6 years now and this is the longest it has ever taken.
Traffic on the interstate wasn’t moving fast but it was moving fairly steady 10-25mph. The stopping was all waiting for too short lights. But for the most part it was obvious drivers were resigned to their fate andwere considerate of others around them and didn’t try to get in too big of a hurry. There were fewer jerks than an average commuting day on I-465.
Then once home I used my car’s bumper plowed the top off the 9 inches of snow in the driveway. At least the snow has stopped coming down but the wind has picked up even more and its drifting. Nine inches is a fair amount of snow for Indiana especially in December.
But I’m certain, some how, global warming is to blame.

I detect a glimmer of sarcasm in that last sentence.

Not a glimmer….
