Abramoff
Curious the radio news I hear always note that Jack Abramoff was a Republican lobbyist who funneled money to Delay and Bush. But they don’t mention that it seems as many Democrats received Abramoff monies. President Bush, for example, received $6,000 from Abramoff. Patrick Kennedy, on the other hand, received $42,500 and Harry Reid received $68,000.
If you google “tom delay jack abramoff” and look at the headline, then do the same with Kennedy & Reid the difference is astounding.
As a matter of fact 40 of 45 members of the Senate Democrat Caucus received money from Jack Abramoff. My favorite is $98k to John Kerry.
But Abramoff is being tied only to Republicans (who have made out pretty much the same as the Democrats I’m sure) rather than being made out for the con man and scam artist that he is. A effective con who knows his market and the climate of DC.
The worst part is that most of those who received money from Abramoff have likely done nohting wrong. Especially those receiving only a few thousand dollars. It makes too much sense in Abramoff’s positioin to spread a seemingly innocuous amounts to almost everyone in an effort to reduce finger pointing through shared guilt if ever outed for what he was. Otherwise the situation we’re seeing here today.
