Border standoff between Mexican military and US Authorities
Border patrol and the FBI were involved in a standoff with Mexican military on Monday, on US soil.
“It’s been so bred into everyone not to start an international incident with Mexico that it’s been going on for years,” Doyal told the Bulletin. “When you’re up against mounted machine guns, what can you do? Who wants to pull the trigger first? Certainly not us.”
They’re called Marines. Barring that (I am not one who believes the use of military force to protect the borders is in violation of Posse Comitatus for it is one of the specific Constitutional duties of the Federal Government. And I distrust anyone, left or right, who advocates any changes to Posse Comitatus for the sole purpose of doing so….) I’m sure there are plenty of volunteers out there who will defend this country.
And that is what they’re afraid of.
Folks, we are in a war with Mexico right this moment, a war they are waging on us with their drugs, their people and now their military. If the same are actually being paid by the cartels rather than the Mexican government (or both) it matters not. What we must do to defend ourselves is not being done on either side of the political leadership and those at the lower levels making the honest attempt are being castigated by their own party associates and the President, past and present.
There are a 1/2 dozen points where I take very strong issue with the President’s stance and this is among the top of the list.

As a retired military man, what can we do, really? As you indicated, anyone or any group is castigated almost immediately and if that person or group has any type of wrongful past, whomever may be looking at it, it will be utilized against that person or group. Sometimes I wonder if we are past the point of rescue.

I don’t disagree with your pessemism, Mike. But if men of conscience stop fighting they will have free reign and their progress will accellerate. Don’t underestimate the restraint our harrassment places on them, politically. What opposition we muster slows their progress and makes them step a bit more carefully. Make them pay for every inch.
