The Cheney Shooting
Oh it’s all a big scandal that Cheney accidentally shot a fellow hunter though by the account I read the fault lay as much on the fellow shot as the fellow shooting.
But this certainly reinforces my own recent thoughts on compacency, doesn’t it? It also adds emphasis on wearing good shooting glasses. Birdshot at 30 yards isn’t life threatening but it doesn’t take much to damage eyes. So if you’re not shooting with good polycarbonate glasses, or yours are very many years old, go buy a pair ASAP and use them.
The way the media is dealing with it, though, amazing. You’d thought Cheney had driven up to the Kerry or Kennedy estate and opened fire. Intentionally. With malice and fore-thought. And not accidentally injured a long time hunting companion where the companion was quite obviously as culpable as Cheney himself. But then facts matter little if its an opportunity to impale the administration.

“But then facts matter little if its an opportunity to impale the administration.”
Most of the controversy has to do with how long it took these facts to come to light. Yet again the Bush administration has taken a potentially flamable situation and done its best to pour gasoline on it.
