It’s here!! The Grenadier Precision FAL Quick Detach Convertible Optics Platform

After just a few months (10 actually) the FAL QD scope mount I mentioned ordering has finally arrived! Initial inspection shows this thing is well built and it fit the receivers I tested nice and snug. This is the first FAL scope mount I’ve seen worth my money since the last mount I ordered from Aimpoint back in 1992.

You might notice it took awhile for them to fill the orders but this thing was well worth the effort. Not to mention there is a very long and somewhat complicated back story to the design and release of this mount. It seems Grenadier Precision had other new products in the pipeline that the US Military took a keen interest in so we FAL’ers (most of us anyway) were happy to wait while the boys in uniform got preferencial treatment.

If the weather is good this weekend I’ll get the rest of the images into a gallery. I want to include some range time and get some shots of fit against the receiver makes I have which is only 3 models of 2 brands but hey, better than nothing.

Now to decided which rifle this will find a home on - probably the Izzy with the 4-12X so I can use the Aimpoint mount for… well… an Aimpoint. What I’m afraid of is that I will need another one of these for the short gas system build I hope to complete by summer. That is if I can find a receiver to build on. I’ll probably go with an Entreprise for this one unless Dan Coonan and NoDakSpud have something to ship when I’m ready.

If you’re looking for a FAL scope mount give a look at Grenadier’s standard and scout quick detach models.
