Meet Randy….
Say hello to Randy the Red Rat Snake also commonly called an Corn snake. Old Randy here isn’t as colorful as most of the images I’ve found, he’s rather subdued with more browns and tans than reds and oranges but the banding marks and red eyes are a dead giveway.
I found Randy this afternoon when I so rudely woke him up. Seems he crawled under my backstop and for some reason he didn’t much care for .45 bullets ringing the steel while he was trying to sleep or more likely hunt since there is plenty of good eating under and behind the backstop. If you’re a snake….
Though he seemed a bit stunned by the noise it sure didn’t effect is constrictor grip and it took a few minutes to convince him I really wanted my hand back. After awhile he decided he didn’t want to play anymore and started rattling his tail in the leaves and trying to bluff me like he was going to strike. He didn’t actually try and I didn’t want him to feel bad so I let him think he was all bad and stuck him under an upside down flower pot that was proped up on one side so he could go when he felt like it. About 30 minutes later he decided he didn’t like the digs and move on.
