Eclipse Aviation Eclipse 500 Gets FAA Nod

Monday, July 31st, 2006

Wow, a private jet, the Eclipse 500 for only $1.3m.
It looks like a C90 Citation with jet engines and roughly 70 knots faster than a King Air 350.
I’ll take one!

System Administrator Appreciation Day

Friday, July 28th, 2006

Thank you… Thank you… don’t forget to applaud, throw money for System Administrator Appreciation Day.

Upside-Down-Ternet

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Apparently, its not bad upside down, either. I really must applaude the ingenuity of this guy as well as his deciding to have a bit of harmless fun with the neighbor instead of simply walking next door and beating them.

Hezbollah was using UN post as ’shield’

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

While everyone is covering Kofi complaining that the Israeli bombing of UN staffers was intentional no one is covering that a UN commander says Hezbollah was using UN post as ’shield’. Hezbollah has no problem using the civilians as shields nor wearing civilian clothing when ever the Israelis get close so why should it be […]

Microsoft.com Preview Shuns Firefox

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

Microsoft’s new website preview only works for IE and now that the industry rags have noticed instead of showing an error message they’re bouncing non-IE browsers to their current website instead.
I guess that’s better than saying “we still can’t write websites that work for everyone but you should buy our tools anyway”.

More on IN Sniper-like Shootings

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Watching the evening news gleaned a few more pieces of information on the sniper like shootings in Indiana.
The trajectory as evidenced by the impact locations on the front and back windshields of a pickup truck appear the shoot was at an elevated position. The holes shown in a trailer indicate it’s definitely a .30 caliber […]

AMD Acquires ATI

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Just when I started switching back to AMD processors for my machines and started eyeing Opterons for some servers AMD goes and does something stupd, they acquire ATI. Why couldn’t they have acquired nVidia or Matrox?
In case you can’t tell I really don’t like ATI graphics chips.

ACLU Dilema: Anti-Gay vs Anti-War/America

Monday, July 24th, 2006

This had to be a hard choice for the ACLU, to choose to defend the rights of a nut-ball sect to protest the war at soldiers’ funerals when the same group is rabidly anti-gay. But, then, if they succeed in their primary goal of bringing down America there won’t be any “gay rights” […]

Kerry knocks Bush on handling of Israel - Lebanon

Monday, July 24th, 2006

John Kerry cracks me up. His recent comments in Detroit concerning the Israeli - Lebanon conflict are quite worthy of jeers:
“If I was president, this wouldn’t have happened,” said Kerry
I guess he doesn’t realize that, according to the Arabs, Israel controls the US rather than the other way… I mean, aren’t we the Israeli puppets??? […]

Neighbor’s “Retard” Sign Upsets Family

Monday, July 24th, 2006

The article could go a lot further into why the neighbor put up the sign but either out of laziness or out of a desire to slant it to their own viewpoint they do not. It boils down to a family has a 13 year old boy with a 3 year old mind, but, […]

Love that Treo

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Once again the performance of my Treo today makes me wonder how on Earth…..
Ah well, anyway…. I was talking to my Bro going down the road. A low power alert popped up but didn’t vibe the phone so I didn’t see it. Heck, the thing vibes if you check email, why not for a low […]

Sniper Shootings Kill 1 on Indiana Highway

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Great, a whacko sniping on the Interstate is all we need. There are a couple of interesting aspects, here.
First the round that hit and killed a man in a truck also left a hole in the back window of the cab which implies a low angle trajectory horizontally and vertically. The news is […]

Accommodation

Monday, July 24th, 2006

“Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us that they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy ‘accommodation.’ And they say if we only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he will forget his evil ways and learn to love […]

Judge Who Told Illegal Immigrant To Leave Court Is Dismissed

Monday, July 24th, 2006

In California today one must only threaten to uphold the law to loose your job.

The Foundation of the Nation

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

“If men of wisdom and knowledge, of moderation and temperance, of patience, fortitude and perseverance, of sobriety and true republican simplicity of manners, of zeal for the honor of the Supreme Being…are chosen to fill the seats of government, we may expect that our affairs will rest on a solid and permanent foundation.”
–Samuel Adams

Gigantic yellow jacket nests turning up in south Alabama

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

If anyone asks me for one reason that I like Indiana I can point to the gigantic yellow jacket nests turning up in south Alabama to illustrate why I like a state that has hard winter freezes.

The pressure to hoax Scientific Fraud For Dollars

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

Nice piece on BBC News, the pressure to hoax, is almost apologetic. Yet it also points out one of the driving forces behind science today, other than a political agenda. Though depending on where your funding is coming from the dollars and the agenda may be walking hand in hand.

Time for More Tax Cuts!

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

We cut taxes and Government revenue has gone up in near record leaps yet even with this Congress can’t seem to get the tax cuts made permenent. Well, then, ok. how about we forget about then and pass new and larger cuts? Works for me, I’d certainly prefer not to send almost 40% of […]

Israel vs Lebanon->Syria->Iran

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

There is so much to be said about the ongoing activities in the middle east, but, while I was searching our references I came across Allahpundit’s post which sums it up so much more thoroughly than I have the time to do.

Hil, Rupert sly as Fox at fund-raiser

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

I know Fox News is lamented as some sort of Conservative rag but people have forgotten that Rupert Murdoch was one of Al Gore’s biggest contributors. And now he and Hil are slinking around doing a fund-raiser. Makes you wonder about all the spin making Murdoch out to be a right winger.
I […]

Indiana interstate fatalities surge?

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

Do they really? The Star’s piece Indiana interstate fatalities surge puts the lie to it’s own headline in the first sentence:
Fewer people have died on Indiana roads in the year since the General Assembly raised speed limits, but deaths on the six main interstates with new 70-mph stretches rose by 40 percent.
I see their purpose […]

Two GOP Lawmakers Withdraw

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Indiana blog Taking Down Words is reporting two GOP state representitives are withdrawing from the November elections: Ralph Ayres in District 4 and Andrew Thomas in District 44.
Andrew Thomas is my own state rep and for once I actually don’t have an opinion on whether this development is good or bad for Indiana, the […]

The Advent of Socialism

Monday, July 17th, 2006

“Now it doesn’t require expropriation or confiscation of private property or business to impose socialism upon a people. What does it mean whether you hold the deed or the title to your business or property if the government holds the power of life and death over that business or property? Such machinery already exists. The […]

Second Coming Predictions

Monday, July 17th, 2006

“Clearly, no one wishes to say anything that will [awaken] mass hysteria. We must never speak…about ‘the Day’ [of the Second Coming] without emphasizing again and again the utter impossibility of prediction. We must try to show them that that impossibility is an essential part of the doctrine. If you do not believe Our Lord’s […]

The Twilight of Freedom

Monday, July 17th, 2006

“As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there’s a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness.”
Supreme Court Justice William Douglas
