More on IN Sniper-like Shootings
Watching the evening news gleaned a few more pieces of information on the sniper like shootings in Indiana.
The trajectory as evidenced by the impact locations on the front and back windshields of a pickup truck appear the shoot was at an elevated position. The holes shown in a trailer indicate it’s definitely a .30 caliber or larger. That the bullet fragmented, at least partially, upon impact with the windshield indicates it’s either a thinly jacketed match grade bullet or cheap hunting bullet. Thirty caliber Military rounds are heavily jacketed so its likely commercial ammo. There were 3 bullet holes in one trailer grouped since 10-14″, most self taught “rifleman” can’t operate a bolt action fast enough to to hit a target moving 70+ mph 3 times with maybe a 25 second window. Probably less considering the shooter probably doesn’t have the depression angle transition range to follow the target inside 100 yards. Rumor has it that shell casings were found at one if not both locations, on an overpass. They’re giving out no info on this but a bolt gun shooter would have had no problem taking his brass with him while a semi-auto shooter would have had a heck of a time even finding the brass. (and most long time avid shooters can look at a piece of .30 cal brass and tell what it was fired from) Unless the shooter wanted the brass found for some unknown reason.
I did not like hearing the Indiana State Police representitive state “anyone with a gun is a suspect” but it doesn’t surprise me.
My guess is its either gang related, terror related, a whack-job Green who hates trucks or some punks who actually believe they’ll get away with it. I only hope the law catches them before a Hoosier catches them unaware while they’re on an overpass for the punks are not likely to walk away from it.
