Blackwater loses appeal in deaths of four in Iraqi city

So 4 guys sign up with Blackwater to go to Iraq as security contractors. Sadly, al-Q asshats kidnap and kill them. In their sorrow the families sue Blackwater for wrongful death and a judge has now allowed it to move forward. Hopefully there is some special circumstance of negligence on the part of Blackwater.

It bugs me a lot that four good men walked into something with full knowledge of the dangers and yet the case is allowed to move forward. Does it make a difference that the family wasn’t aware of the dangers? Emotionally, I would say yes. Legally… no.

The contracts were explicit about the dangers they could face, among other things: “being shot, permanently maimed and/or killed by a firearm or munitions, falling aircraft or helicopters, sniper fire, land mine, artillery fire, rocket-propelled grenade, truck or car bomb.”

Certainly doesn’t leave much room for doubt.

Sure doesn’t make any sense , how long will it be before some G.I. ’s family tries to sue the government because they lost a loved one ?
Oh , that may have already been done , Cindy Sheehan ???
When you VOLUNTEER you KNOW the risk involved before hand and you make a decision as to are the risk worth the effort ? obviously these civilian contractors are paying alot of money to volunteers , I was offered $136K , TAX FREE , for a one year contract as a truck driver , it’s tempting but it is not worth the risk when there are still attacks going on , and they told me I CANNOT have ANY firearm or any type of weapon period. That made the odds worse , I mean come on , I am a veteran I am very well aquainted with the m-16 and a m-203 , all I’d want is about 2 thousand rounds for each oh yea and a sidearm too , and I like my sig. but they said no way so in return so did I.
