Poll: Majority says government doing too much

In superficial light the poll showing the ajority believes government doing too much would seem good for Republicans and I’d like to hope so. But in his quest to be a compasionate conservative George Bush became part of the drunken spending crowd and certainly enough Americans realize this. The sad thing is the choice in the Presidency will for future races be Republican Big Government verses Democrat Bigger Government and the difference will likely be lost on the masses. Not that either is appealing in any way, but it is the general global trend toward statist socialism.

But in the congressional races there is still a chance. The Senate can’t get over itself and their own 100 Presidents In Waiting syndrome. That leaves the Congress as the last chance to stop big government, to stop taxing the productive into taking their ball and going home (or to Mexico or China) and keep the regulatory climate off the backs of Americans.

I don’t belive the media hype that the Democrats will recover the House and Senate. Even with the current margins there are enough RINO’s to tilt the balance toward the Democrat agenda and we’ve seen this vote after vote. Typically such divisions have been headed by good old John McCain, the “Republican Maverick”.

Strange how a Republican who votes against his party is a “maverick” while a Democrat that votes for the Country and the People is a “traitor”. Examples beyond Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman are unnecessary.
