Remember how the “fellow travelers” said we didn’t need SDI? Even at the reinstigation of the effort by the current administration many are saying we don’t need it and it’d never work anyway. Well guess what, the Chinese have successfully tested their own SDI and it works. Getting a missle to fly 4000 miles is a feat for sure, but hitting a 4 foot target… this is a major victory for the Chinese engineers who’ve been working on this thing. And it should scare the hell out of the rest of the world. At it’s simplest the Chinese can now ransom the entire world’s communications systems. At its worst they can blind our military assets and open large holes in GPS coverage. If they can build enough of the missles.
