Subway customer lauded as hero for gunning down robbers in Plantation

There are several things that bother me about the story of the Subway customer who gunned down 2 robbers Florida and none of them surround this gentleman’s use of force but the friends and parents of the robbers. I can understand their grief as I’m sure most people can and things are said in such times that we’re best to ignore. Were the sentiments not becoming not only populist but being extolled by the media I could let them pass.

So I have to ask, where is the sympathy for a 70 year old man who thought he was about to be lead to his death by execution in a Subway bathroom? Were these “nice young men” (they’re always “nice young men”, hadn’t you noticed? ) willing to simply take the man’s money and run they’d likely be alive.

Better still, if they’d chosen another way to acquire that money, like a job, they’d assuradly be alive today.

Maybe if these young men had parents who would acknowledge their children weren’t angels they would also be alive today and be productive members of society. But with parents, friends and family who will blame a victim for the consequences of the acts of these men I’m afraid their untimely end was a matter of time.
