iPhone Rage
Apparently Britons expect to get innovation with no strings. Part of the iPhone deal is it is sold exclusively through one cellular provider. In the EU its illegal to do that but then most of their cell providers are state owned, at least partly, so it becomes more about making sure the state gets a cut rather than anything remotely resembling “fair use” or “consumer rights”.
As for “consumer rights” the only right the consumer has is for the device to work as advertised assuming the same said consumer has the intelligence to use it to begin with. The consumer has no right to change the contract as offered simply because they don’t like Apple’s preferred carrier. Their “right” to change is simply to buy a competing product.
Just think folks, if it weren’t for such competition and huge paybacks why in heck would anyone go out on a limb to create such a revolutionary gadget? They wouldn’t… but then that’d solve the problem, too, wouldn’t it.
