I like Dick Cheney and have since he called a spade a spade in the Glock debate of the late 80’s when the movement was afoot do ban these “dangerous guns invisible to x-ray and metal detectors”. And when it comes to the real conservatives who are sticking it out in the Republican party I imagine Cheney’s presence on the ticket helped get past that “compassionate conservatism” Bravo Sierra to carry Bush into the Whitehouse not once, but twice. There are things with which I disagree with the Vice President. But one thing overshadows all those disagreements, Dick Cheney says what he means and means what he says which is a damn rare thing in American politics of any generation. It’s also why he is so despised.
