Brit Speed Camera Reprisals
The Brits use radar speed cameras more than anyone else to ticket speeders. The problem, as some US states have also found, is the potential for abuse is huge. Catching speeders becomes no longer about safety but about revenue. Once that is realized the shenanigans begin; new and sudden changes of speed limits in obscure areas, questionable placement of cameras well before a speed limit sign is visible and other tactics designed to catch speeders aware and fill the coffers of the ticketing authority. These tricks have gotten so out of hand in Britain that the locals are retalitating against the speed cameras directly since their complaints to the authorities are falling on deaf if not richer ears.
