Sun Acquires MySQL AB
It has been announced that Sun has acquired MySQL AB. Thankfully it wasn’t Oracle who were making overtures last year and scaring the heck out of a lot of people including myself. Reading how this will effect me as a serious mysql user I’m not overly concerned. And despite several, I mean SEVERAL, missteps by Sun over more recent years they do seem to get it right eventually. Maybe not before they’ve lost leadership in a certain market though and that is a potential problem in my eyes as they acquire the leading open source SQL server on the planet (no “Postgres rulez!” emails please).
