Shorthand
Having worked in IT and service desk for so many years I’ve heard a lot of the technology shorthand for the guy or gal on the other end of the phone. Also having spent a few years in food service management I know there is shorthand in that profession as well. So I guess I really should’t be suprised that doctors have their own shorthand for your charts that you really might be better off not knowing.
This list is by British doctors but professional communities tend to stick pretty close. I can’t imagine a British service desk technician not knowing ID-10-T or PEBKAC any more than Cardiologists not knowing what TFTB or Oncologists knowing CTD in their respective worlds.
Though short, it is hard to choose just a couple of favorites especially since I can see England has Redneck, too, as witnessed by UBI or Unknown Beer Injury.
Of course, you may not find any of them funny I since everyone knows I’m NQR.
