Alderman writes law to cover his forgetfulness
At least that’s the headline but how factual is it? Was Ald. Richard Mell merely trying to cover himself? And so what if he was if it makes good policy sense. Reading the comments in the article already shows a list of people pointing out they hypocrisies of the alderman but what I see is a politician admitting the law he helped draft and pass has flaws. So it was his personal experience that showed him those flaws, that’s much more powerful that constituent complaints.
I say kudos to Alderman Mell for recognizing and fixing broken law.
That I disagree with the law as a whole is another story.
