Mandriva Linux 2008 Spring

I have used Mandrake/Mandriva since around ‘97 and despite the upsurge in popularity of Ubuntu and its derivatives I’ve found no compelling reason to switch distributions. Linux.com has review of Mandriva Linux 2008 Spring which is one of the better reviews Mandriva has received during occasionally the bumpy ride homogenizing Mandrake and Connectiva into a single product.

As the article notes there is no single perfect distribution. But the article stops short of noting this is why Linux is so powerful and popular. There is a distribution out there geared toward most needs and even end user mindset. If you try that *other* company’s operating systems and find them wanting you can’t simply go find a different flavor put together by someone in the same situation, with the same need or of the same mindset.

With Linux, you can.
