Open Carry

Here in Indiana our license to carry a firearm is just that simple. The word “conceal” is no where used. It is the same in a lot of states and there is a movement afoot to have the public recognize more than LEO’s are carrying weapons about their daily business. I understand the purpose of public education and the exercising of our rights as individuals each bearing a measure of responsibility in defending our homes and communities. Especially of late with so many brainwashed by Indoctrination Television (e.g. Law & Order, CSI, etc). So I understand the frustration of those going peaceably about their business but viewed with contempt or fear by their “fellow” citizens.

However, part of the effectiveness of an armed populace is keeping criminals guessing. Add to that the mayhem caused by sheeple panicking when you walk down the street carrying openly. Does telling the criminals where those who would present opposition are combined with increased law enforcement false alarms really create a positive societal effect?

Still, the situation will likely balance itself out. Some will feel as I and continue to conceal their firearms in public. Others will carry openly and increase public awareness. If we can avoid a philosophical conflict between these two groups, and, keep the latter from prompting to reactionary changes to carry law the net effect could be positive. But risky.
