The “gun show loophole” that isn’t
An interesting op-ed relaying data on how individual to individual gun show sales not big source of problems whether they take place at a gun show, a shooting range or private residence.
The thing the anti-gun crowd continually pushes aside is that gun owners are among the more personally responsible citizens where ever you find them. They also frequently focus on what someone “could” do and basically convict the entire population of being untrustworthy with firearms without benefit of a trial or more importantly the chance to prove otherwise.
Over the years I have known people who, even being the staunch pro rights libertarian that I am, made me nervous with firearms. But it is their right until they prove unable or unwilling to act responsibly. Twenty years later I still know some of these people and not a one of them has proven unable to act responsibly. They proved they are up to the responsibilities that accompany all individual rights.
And that is what America is about. Or used to be….
