Tale of Two Carriers
So today was one of those infrequent occurrences where I received 2 packages from 2 different carriers on the same day. It also illustrated why one carrier is at the top of their food chain and the other is, well… not.
One package was the tour pack for my VTX delivered by UPS. Not only did UPS deliver this huge box, they put it on the patio undercover with a bag over it and taped down.
Package number 2 was actually an envelop DHL Express tried to deliver Friday but was signature required, so they left me a sticky on the front door. Today, he put a final attempt notice in my mailbox instead with a note that he couldn’t deliver because “dogs out”.
Mind you these are the dogs he (or she?) walked past on Friday to stick the sticky on my door.
Maybe my dogs just don’t like the taste of UPS people? Or in actuality I know our driver carries Milk Bones…. DHL Express’s people on the other hand are chickens who doesn’t know how to deal with animals.
And that is why UPS is on top and DHL Express is barely a contender. Frankly, I’m curious as to why this overseas vendor shipped DHL?

DHL is fairly dominant in Europe (they are a German company), even Amazon uses them. DHL has struggled in the USA.

This is the package from Zurich so that figures. Now I have to go pick it up because even after leaving a sticky that said sign it and leave out for the driver they did not even ATTEMPT to deliver #3. Plus, the sticky from attempt 1 was on the door waiting for them when they made attempt #2.
So I’m going to go kill an hour of my time fetching the package that would have been delivered on Friday had it been shipped UPS.
This is why they struggle to gain market share in the USA….
