Tour Pak Installed

The guys at Hackleman got the trunk repainted and I was able to pick it up this morning. The up side is those pock marks are going to be much less likely to show up after sitting in the sun now that the glass has more or less gassed. Fingers crossed anyway.

They even painted the inside though it will get gray auto carpet glued in to match the saddlebags.

Mounting it back up didn’t really take long, 4 3/8″ bolts with washers, large neoprene washers between the box and mount, and nylock nuts to keep them from vibrating off. That was the easy part, then came all those tiny hardware for hinges and latches.

I’ll likely have to add a couple of straps front to back to further support the rear of the box. But I’ll wait until I determine what I’m doing to dress up the rear end in the way of lighting and trim

The Missus is particularly fond of the new backrest arrangement and I don’t have to worry about her dozing and falling off on long trips. They make swing out arm rests that mount to the trunk, that may be in her future as well – especially if there is a cup holder involved.

The saddle bag lids hit just a little but they’ll flex enough to clear. Pretty much since they were installed I knew they need to be moved down 1-1.5″ but it is such a hassle to do I’ve put it off.

Next will be a fairing… just which one.
