Ice-T Defends Gun Rights
We’ve seen some pretty diverse characters weigh in on gun rights, pro and con, since the weekend. I suppose the one that surprised me most is Ice-T not so much because he’s “pro-gun” but because he’s one of the few to point out:
It’s part of our Constitution. You know, the right to bear arms is because that’s the last form of defense against tyranny. Not to hunt. It’s to protect yourself from the police.
The rest of the comment isn’t the most literate. And, of course, to me and likely most it’s government in general not just the “police”. I tend to see the local constabulary as an extension of the community itself probably because of where and how I grew up (i.e. not in the inner city). But, that’s also an antiquated view on my part and due to the rapid escalation of overreach and over reaction and “we’re the only ones…” idiocy it’s a changing view.
